The 1.8 petrol engine is much better than the thoughts it would be. It’s smooth low down, and picks up really well for over-taking, whilst still returning 33mpg, which doesn’t seem bad with the auto gearbox fitted. But that gearbox isn’t the best – it gets a little confused with the small petrol engine, and it’s not particularly smooth either.
Inside the car, rear legroom apart, you can’t go wrong. The seats are comfortable and the wheel adjusts for rake and reach so getting a decent driving position is easy. The dials and switch-gear are utterly superb – everything is beautiful designed and a joy to drive in front of. The digital climate control is accurate and easy to use, the electric windows and mirrors operate majestically, and like I said before, the stereo is outstanding. The computer is also excellent and extremely accurate.
